Applications for the Jerwood/FVU Awards 2018 are being considered by an expert selection panel: Noor Afshan Mirza, artist and co-founder of no.w.here; George Vasey, currently working as a curator on the Turner Prize 2017 and curatorial fellow at Newcastle University; Steven Bode, Director, FVU; Sarah Williams, Head of Programme, Jerwood Visual Arts.
An internal panel consisting of Sarah Williams, Head of Programme at Jerwood Visual Arts, Oliver Fuke, Gallery Manager at Jerwood Visual Arts, Steven Bode, Director of FVU and Susanna Chisholm, Operations Director of FVU, will assess all applications and create a longlist of up to 20 applications for the external panel’s consideration. This is done because the external panel meet for only one day, limiting how many video applications can be properly viewed and discussed in that time. The external panel will also receive the full set of submissions, and will be able to identify applications from the full set of submissions for consideration at the panel meeting if they would like to see them on the long list. During the external panel meeting four applicants will be selected for interview.
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 23 May 2017. The four selected applicants will be interviewed by the internal panel. Two applicants will then be chosen to receive the Awards.
Award winners will be announced in the first week of June 2017.
